Caring For The Earth Class Continues
Caring for the Earth Class is an education program of Nuraga Bhumi Institute partnering with The Nature for Change. Through this program, the 65 students who are indigenous children who were born and thrive in the buffer-zone of Gunung Leuser National Park learn how to understand conservation as part of their life values. This activity are done 3 days in a week where the children learn about animal, plants and other conservation knowledges to grow their compassion and connection to their environment.
Our teachers who are also our female team patrol members are designing the curriculum and activities based on the important knowledge of these children to carry. One of the most important subject often to be taught is recycle class and one of them is how to recycle the paper waste we have in the centre to be cute key chains.
It is part of our cultural value to always re-use things around us as ways to control and manage our waste for the planet. For the Sumatran indigenous communities, this is not a new thing. However, this values are not on the trend anymore thus we need to reclaim it back for us to understand that we need to control and be mindful of the things we consume every day as ways to protect our environment and forest.
To be able to continue this work, we need your help for our Caring for The Erath Class to continue. We need your support to purchase our needs in the school. Please donate for us to be able to continue the good work we do as we can’t do it without your help. Please donate on our PayPal here.
